Warpath 5K, 2011

(TO SEE MORE PICTURES, CLICK ON THE WARPATH PICTURES ICON IN THE RIGHT COLUMN)

Ninety seven participants gathered on the East side of the court house lawn Saturday morning, eager for the Mayor to fire the pistol signaling the start of the Lions Club Warpath. Haskell School Homecoming brought folks home and many enjoyed the beautiful morning walking or running the 5 K, starting and finishing at the gazebo. The Haskell Lions Club has been sponsoring the event the last three years, raising money to support the many projects that benefit our community, our country, and even people with needs in other countries. Look soon for an article with information about many of the projects Lions International carries out.

The top three overall winners were (first) Samantha Burgess of Ballinger, (second) Jim McTasney of Haskell, and (third) Joseph Lopez of Haskell. Female winners in their age group were: 0-10 Tylee Bevel, 10-19 Kaley Mathis, 20-19 Jessica Reiger, 30-39 Michelle Gilbert, 40-49 Kristi Stewart, 50-59 Fonda Newton, 60-69 Mary Rike, and 70 plus Mary Kaplan.
Male winners were: 0-10 Caseh Bassett, 10-19 Jonathan Nicholson, 20-29 Marty Hall, 30-39 Craig Gilbert, 40-49 Slade Nicholson, 50-59 Rob Hollingsworth, 70 plus Bob Baker. Congratulations!

Thank you to all who performed the necessary jobs that enable us to have this event. We appreciate those who helped the runners sign in and get their numbers pinned one, those who controlled traffic, the businesses who advertised on the T shirts, the businesses who donated the great door prizes, the city/chamber for allowing us to use the great new sound system, AND ESPECIALLY all those who participated!!!

Pictures are posted in an album you can see by clicking on the Warpath Photos icon.

Warpath 2010

The Haskell Lions Club Warpath was enjoyed by 39 participants from a toddler in a baby carriage to the 70+ age group. And a healthy number of volunteers showed up to help set up, register runners, patrol traffic crossings, provide first aide if needed, tag the winners, hand out refreshments, sing for the fans of the runners, and fire the starting gun. The Lions Club thanks all those who donated their Saturday morning to make the event successful. We would also like to thank the Haskell Businesses who always very generously donate to the projects of the Lions.
The first, second, and third place overall winners were Samantha Burgess of Snider, Danny Griffith of Pflugerville, and Misty Bartley of Dallas. Here is a picture of all the winners. WE look forward to making improvements for the 2011 Warpath and registering more participants. Start training now!

First Annual Warpath

We're glad it's over but we are so thankful for how well it went! The first annual Haskell Warpath, a 5k Fun Run/Walk, was a great success and we look forward to implement new ideas for an even better run next year. Over 60 people participated and 20-plus fulfilled their responsibilities to make for a smoothly run event. Even the weather behaved perfectly.
We appreciate the sponsors who donated money towards the T-shirts and others who donated the necessary supplies and the door prizes. We thank the policemen and firemen who controlled traffic and the friends of Lions who helped sign in participants, time runners, tag winners, hand out water, and "patrol" the streets in case of a first aid need.
The Haskell Lions Club is involved in projects that are very beneficial to our community and we are excited about possible new ways to contribute to Haskell. Proceeds from the Run will aid us in these activities.

Most importantly, THANK YOU to all the runners and walkers. We look forward to seeing you next year.

Above is the photo taken just as Lion President fired the Start signal.

Homecoming Pancake Supper

This year's Pancakes were delicious! And, as usual, the bacon was wonderful. We served around 250 people before the Haskell Indians defeated the Quanah Indians before a large homecoming crowd. The Lions want to thank everyone who supported them by coming to eat pancakes! THANK YOU!
